Woolworths Group and your privacy

We value your trust and we take the protection of your personal information seriously. So we design our systems with your security and privacy in mind. There are a number of ways we store your personal information, for example in a secure cloud environment. We use various measures to protect your data, some examples are listed below.

Security measures

We use a range of security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or being tampered with in any way.

Some of the measures we use may include:

  • Access controlled systems so that only those that need access to the personal information can see it
  • Encryption and hashing methods to protect your payment card details
  • Encryption of data when it is being transmitted between systems
  • Encryption of data when it is stored in our systems
  • Physical and technical security access controls - for example, swipe card access to physical data locations
  • Policies, procedures and training programs.

These are just some examples of how we protect your personal information.

Protecting your personal information when its being shared

We often work with third parties like Everyday Rewards Partners, suppliers and service providers who may need to handle your personal information.

In these cases, we take steps to ensure these businesses protect your personal information in line with our security standards and Australian privacy law.

Some of the steps we may take to protect your personal information when it’s being shared include:

  • Using masking techniques such as ‘hashing’ and ‘salting’  to help prevent the reverse-engineering of your passwords or personal information.
  • Putting contractual protections in place with these third parties.
  • Working with our Everyday Rewards Partners, suppliers and service providers to ensure appropriate security measures are in place.

Sharing your personal information with service providers overseas

Some of our service providers including data storage and technology companies, are located in, or may use locations outside Australia.

So when we share your personal information overseas, as described above, we take steps to ensure it is protected.
